The Latin American Christian community, particularly in Mexico, is mourning the passing of missionary Wayne Myers, who entered the presence of God on Feb. 1, 2025, at the age of 101 after more than eight decades of ministry.
The Myers family announced Wayne's passing on social media, writing, “The Myers family shares with you that our beloved Wayne has made his triumphant entry into the presence of the Lord, whom he loved so dearly while he was with us. Join us in exalting the glory and mercy of our God for the life and legacy of this great father, friend, and servant of God.”
Born in Morton, Mississippi, in 1922, Myers gave his life to Christ at the age of 14 and received a calling from God to serve in Mexico. Over the years, he witnessed countless conversions and miracles. His ministry was characterized by teaching the faith and challenging believers to trust in God.
He dedicated his life to missionary work, supporting the planting of more than 10,000 churches and assisting in the translation of the Bible into indigenous languages. Additionally, he promoted the use of media to spread the Gospel.
His legacy is best summed up in his motto: “Live to give and live to serve,” reflecting his passion for revival in Mexico and his deep desire for greater unity in the Body of Christ.
Throughout his ministry, Myers emphasized the importance of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, stating that this experience was fundamental to his life and work. His unwavering faith and passion for sharing the Gospel impacted countless lives in Mexico and beyond.
Many pastors and evangelical leaders across the Latin America took to social media to express their condolences and share their memories of him.
“Wayne Myers, you were one of the great men of God who walked this earth—an inspiration to all of us who follow in the footsteps of Jesus. We will miss you deeply,” Guatemalan pastor Cash Luna, senior pastor of Casa de Dios Church in Guatemala, shared on Facebook.
Pastor Gilberto Rocha of the Calacoaya Christian Center Church in the State of Mexico also wrote on social media: “Today we bid farewell to one of the most influential and transcendent men in the Mexican church.”
The Evangelical Fellowship of Mexico released a statement from the Myers family regarding the funeral, noting that they will announce details of the arrangement as soon as they become available:
“We are currently following the protocols required by the government to ensure that all procedures are carried out properly. We understand the significance of this moment and want to assure you that as soon as we have specific details, we will share them through our social media channels. This way, we can come together as a community to honor and celebrate Wayne’s life, while also supporting his family during this difficult time.”
